Back to the Mill with me...I'll probably be putting my application in, for temporary employment, in the next two weeks...I'd like to be working by March 1st...Hopefully Randy Beary the owner still has that offer for me (come back any time you like, we always have a need for someone like you.) If not I'll look elsewhere, but it has to happen in the next couple months...no other way about it.

It's simply the closest job available...and it'll be the easiest to deal with if I can't have my own car immediately...if I have to tell my mother she can't work between the hours of 5:20am and 2:30pm so be it...she can take the pay cut since I doubt she'd want to help me take care of the $3,200 in business I need to take care of before I go back to college...besides the fact I'll be making more than she does, even if it means I work twice as much...

But If I don't start work by at the latest mid-march, april...I won't make enough money to take care of everything...and my transcripts especially won't be accessible as early as I'd like (or colleges would like, certainly...)

Ideally my transcripts are free from the financial hold by April...no later than May because shit might hit the fan with enrollment... If I'm lucky maybe a couple weeks before. That way I can focus on getting enough cash for a laptop/external MIDI interface and saving money for the college year. I'm going to be contacting colleges to see if they'd allow someone to apply with a traditional application or transfer app on the basis that they will have transcripts before the semester begins, but it may not be early enough for say, "early decision" programs or what-have-you...or even standard timing really.

I did some phantom buying today to see how much it would run me to have basically every tool I really desire at my disposal right now, Studio-wise...and even threw in $1,000 for 2 15" PA speakers that weight about 40lbs a piece. My total was in the arena of $7,500 not counting software, which is actually really good. It includes one of the only keyboards on the market with real simulated grand piano action (wood keys help.) A Korg M3 Module, and some other goodies, like Mackie 8" Driver Studio Monitors.

Now if I'm REALLY lucky, I might actually have enough money by the time college starts to get the PA cabinets, which means I can do live stuff around campus wherever that may be (and/or piss off neighbors.) I'll probably get a Novation Launch Pad or two as well. Going to be switching to Ableton shortly (for live purposes...who knows, if I like it, maybe I'll use it for composition too...) and Pro Tools M-Powered for mastering...which is just an amazing program. They really do have the best algorithms for their reverb, compression and equalization. Have been practicing some live stuff in FL-Lately, trying to get as ingenuitive as possible with my Axiom Pro (and it does allow for a good deal of expressiveness...you just have to set it up right for each set.) I am somewhat torn as to how I'll eventually do live stuff. I enjoy improvising bass lines on piano, but I need to get a bit better at improvising on the fly for melody/strings elsewhere to really do that. Realistically I'd be better off just having my sets fully fleshed out, and screwing with them via launchpads and lots of sliders/knobs. We'll have to see though. The Axiom will probably be an integral part of the setup regardless, as I don't really want to go through the hassle of buying a stand-alone midi controller at any point in the foreseeable future. There's better things to sink money into.

Although I do think for smaller venues, if I manage to get in with a party scene and whatnot, maybe I'll do more improv at those. That way it can be a little more of a personal experience with people I'll be getting smashed with. It seems reasonable. I kinda want to push my limits...get a good 50 minutes worth of material to do...and so some bigger stuff...maybe even on the stage at college...who knows, sky is the limit, and I've been doing this shit a long, long time...

Kids get away with doing 1 measure loop repeats and stuff that's nowhere near as complicated as what I've written in the past these days...I imagine once I'm remixing my own stuff, there's really going to be no fucking limit for me. Besides remixing more popular music, too.

But I would really like to make about $4-5,000 after taxes in the next seven months. Pray for me. Thanks.
