I guess it is pretty pointless to argue the whole legalization of drugs.

If a person is responsible, chances are they aren't going to get caught doing anything.

I guess If I wanted anything, I'd ask for decriminalization of marijuana, because it makes no sense to me why those who posess it and get caught can get put in prison...seems to me like it's a waste of taxpayer dollars, especially when these users don't rape and kill and steal.

But...there's just too many moral considerations I guess. If it was legal it might cause some problems in a country this big, so decriminalization is what i'll put my view on now.

A fine is the only real thing I can see as a punishment for marijuana anyway.

I'm kinda glad someone posted who agrees with me. I was thinking for a moment only me and my few friends who blaze occasionally think it should be legal...if people looked at the fact that it really is about as bad for you as alcohol/cigarettes, they might see it a bit differently.

It's nowhere near as bad for you as alcohol or cigarettes - no healthy social user smokes enough to reach the level of carcinogens/tar of cigs, and... well, withdrawl from alcohol addiction can kill you. 'Nuff said.

Most people don't disagree with legalization of marijuana, at least up here. You start getting into conflicting opinions when you change your legalization focus from a drug that most everyone can agree is (relatively) safe to ones that aren't, for various reasons. Do I think some people utterly waste their lives on weed? Sure, but they'd more than likely be wasting them anyway, because it takes a certain type of personality to do that. Let the happy hippies smoke and leave us be - too bad there's no way that'll happen in the States until you get new leadership. (Consider that Bush is currently trying to remove all mention of condoms' efficacy from public health and sex ed programs, and even attempted to have them removed from the world list of ways to reduce HIV transmission. WTF?)

Nobody really likes bush anymore -smiles-

And yes, you're right, I forgot the context in which most people see acid. I've never done it myself, like I said, and I don't really condone using it...though I would enjoy trying it once, if I use anything more than once I think I want to stick on the naturally grown side.

Down here, the people who disagree seem to think something along the lines of if they make marijuana legal everyone won't do anything with their lives, they'll sit around and smoke. People take things way out of context, you'd have people that would be like your weed alcoholics, and then you'd have people who do it maybe once or twice a week, and the majority most likely not at all.

We probably won't legalize it for decades, but decriminalization will hopefully spread to all the states sooner or later.

In any case, hallucinogens are okay if you use them responsibly as well, I just wouldn't use them many times in a year.
