This could be a good thing, actually...
Aug. 13th, 2003 10:04 pmSo I think I hate rob now...
You know, I wouldn't deal with the kinda shit he pulls with anyone else...so why him.
#1, you don't accuse me of being a USER. Especially for something as stupid as to when it comes to pot. At least i make the attempts to match tom and get him high when he has none...i don't see you doing that. So obviously, I'm not the one who should be wondering if he's a user or not.
#2, you insult my way of life. Meditation and searching the inner self are acceptable paths, maybe not in your eyes, but that's because you're a narrow-minded human. Grow up and learn some manners.
#3, You're the only one abandoning friends. You hardly hang out with rick or D anymore, and tom is getting iffy as well. You spend all your time with matt and curt. How do you think that makes us feel?
and finally, #4, You don't trust me. If you don't trust me, you aren't worth my trust, and if there isn't mutual trust, IT IS NOT A FUCKING FRIENDSHIP! I don't care how you define your friends, mine are defined by loyalty! And you definitely aren't loyal. I want a day of rest, you won't give me it. Go fuck yourself, you inconsiderate asshole.

Date: 2003-08-14 10:36 am (UTC)We endure a lot for those we consider friends. The closer they are the more we endure.

Time for reality to check in. So're you. Informing him that he needs to grow up and learn some manners is a valid point, if he insults your spirituality, but for all the self-professed open mindedness from people around me, including you, there is a lot of bigotry towards Christianity. Justified as "I'm just a bigot to them because they're bigotted towards me."
News flash, bigotry by any other name or justification is still bigotry. He is well within his rights to think your spirituality is a load of bull. He is not well within his rights to insult it. But you should not deny him his opinion, or else you are no better than he is.

The age old addage of "It takes one to know one." He shifts the blame and you take the brunt of it. On the other hand, don't fight other people's battles for them. There might be a reason he's pulling away from Rick and D. Similarly, saying "how do you think that makes us feel" is asking for trouble.
Rather than resorting to that, instead state "This makes me feel..." Or "It makes me feel blah when you do blah."
It works a hell of a lot better.

Not knowing the situation, I can't exactly comment on this one.
Don't resort to yelling, though. Instead, just distance yourself. Fighting never got anyone anywhere except angry and upset. Actually being responsible and dealing with the problems, on the other hand...
But what do I know?

Date: 2003-08-14 10:44 am (UTC)And i'm not bigoted against christianity really...I realize faith is important and that people can choose who to worship, because that is a /personal/ choice. I never insulted his way of life, either :P so i never stopped him from having his opinions, but considering he IS supposed to be a friend...I don't see why he would.
And for the record...there isn't really any reason. Rick agrees with me that he's abandoning us for new and better friends, and so does a girl that he used to hang out a lot with...it's not just me feeling this way :P
You know a lot geoffy, you have a lot of wisdom :P It's just that i didn't explain the situation beforehand...you might understand then.
And I did distance myself, he decided to start talking to me on another messenger...Rob can't stand to lose. And he has to be the highest authority figure or he gets pissed off. Anyway, i guess he just wanted to get out of his house really bad, and that was the only reason he started yelling at me...but it doesn't change the fact he used a lot of insults and a lot of false accusations against me. He's really not a friend...he's turning into a user, just like Matt and Cass. He goes where the action is, if there's something better than hanging out with his old friends, he does it.
