Political Correctness?

sathorI wrote this as a response to a Reddit comment on how the right is also doing things to make the world better.
I'm sick and tired of political correctness being used as a shield for the delusional, and there are plenty of reasons to believe the platform of the right is delusional, if not completely self-serving for the wealthiest people. If tomorrow the right said they were pro gun control and the left said they were pro-NRA, the conservative party would be finished - because the only people left supporting them would be the super rich and a handful of die-hard fundamentalist Christians. There's simply nothing else appealing about the right's platform for the vast majority of Americans. When the right lowers taxes, they only lower them for the top one percent. When the right talks about immigration reform, they'll still want to increase green cards and work visas so the south keeps their immigrant labor, and they'll still support sending jobs overseas because it means a better bottom line for corporations.
The right routinely funds think tanks and media air time for climate change denial. They routinely block attempts at greater EPA regulations to secure a healthier future - or any at all - for the generations to come. They refuse to admit or rectify the gross income inequalities in this country, and respond only with, "the invisible hand of the "Free Market" works" while wages for 95% of us have stayed stagnant for over two decades, and the top 5% have seen income increases of 500%. They refuse to admit that countries such as Norway have a higher GDP per capita than the United States, but are still able to offer higher standards of living across the board, completely universal healthcare, and free higher education. Most egregiously, they have, year after year, cut funding to education across the board, and cut funding for infrastructure at the federal level - when our infrastructure is growing dangerously decrepit.
If these are not reasons enough for a person to recognize that the platform of the right is, by and large, both *delusional* and *dangerous* then I must believe that their opinion would only be swayed if fire and brimstone fell from the sky.
