I think it has come to my attention that too much emphasis has been put on education...especially by those in power and the educators (those who would benefit from more students)...but also by my own self. Education is easy. What is difficult, is selecting a particular line of work and sticking with it until it is profitable...in addition to becoming a master of that particular trade, whatever it may be.

I think I learned more in two days of training at a refinery than I learned in an entire two years at a college. That is to say...more -useful-, practical, applicable knowledge. And there's only more to learn now that the training is over. That was only one very small, insignificant part of it all.

What simply amazes me is how useless college appears by comparison. The end result is nothing short of brainwashing. Brainwashed to believe these pieces of paper could replace years of service in an industry. Brainwashed to believe that your sought after position as a result of education is somehow separate, more difficult, and of a higher echelon than industrial work, or putting in the time. When, of course, your position would cease to exist without all of the highly experienced individuals who have toiled away to provide you with every conceivable advancement in our society today. Without the oil industry, you probably wouldn't have any of it...at the least, most modern technology would have been delayed significantly. And that's only one small part of it all.

If I continue my education, it will be purely out of my own desire to enhance and/or modify my own intellect and perception of reality, and nothing more. There's real work to be done. I will seek my art on my own time.
