The New Setup
Mar. 24th, 2010 03:12 am I really love it.
Having my keyboard right in front of me at all times is going to significantly affect my workflow. Not to mention I can get hands on with my mixing because it has great sliders, knobs and other bells and whistles. It was very difficult to use it the way it is intended without seeing it heads up - and I wouldn't want it any other way on stage for that matter. Keyboards with the built in sound engines are great for that, but a midi controller needs a monitor in the same way those keyboards need their displays.
The only part I dislike is that with my room I can't have my monitors 8-12" from the wall. Something I may be able to rectify when I get Amy's room likely sometime in the summer. I'm not sure how much longer I will be spending here but I presume not much. Unfortunately I may need to wait until next year to move /out/ of the region, but if I can get a job at the refinery and save enough dough beforehand, I may move into Warren for a little while, close enough to walk to work. That would be perfect for the time being until I get used to that lifestyle, and then I can take a bigger step into a university town unless things look up with music or writing (in which case I may just move for a breath of fresh air, no worries having the funds I need gained from art.)
I am excited about the possibilities in my life right now. The future is bright and I am definitely not too old to do anything, including music professionally. Especially if I continue to take it as seriously as I have in the past. I am pretty positive about the way things look this year.
