Hmm...

Think I'm going to pick up this ATI HD 4770 from Amazon for $100 if Modern Warfare 2 doesn't run well. It's probably more multithreaded than the other games I've owned in the past so hopefully this quad core finally gets a chance to show off. If it's sluggish I'll have to upgrade, but I'm not too concerned about getting a second harddrive. I still have over 90 gigs free and defragging/cleaning up has really helped speed it up. The real benchmark will be MW2 when it's done downloading. With 8 gigs of ram and a 2.6 quad core you really wouldn't think any game would run sluggish, but ETQW was horrendous on max graphics (to the credit of the game, it is absolutely beautiful at max, possibly moreso than MW2)

I'm going to switch to Cakewalk Sonar for my digital studio as long as I find it more stable than FL. I am sick and tired of the way FL functions generally and they barely get any publicity anymore. I feel like they've abandoned the franchise except for their FL-only VST synthesizers, which would be the only reason I can foresee at this point wanting to use FL Studio at all. I really like the way sonar looks - it really appears to be a much more professional system. Cakewalk is also to PC like Pro Tools is to MAC. Pro Tools PC is not easy to do and I am not buying into the RTAS bullshit.

I've splurged a little but not a lot. A GPU upgrade will probably extend life expectancy too...my 8800GT runs incredibly hot, and it didn't do very well in FurMark - it scores between 2100 and 2300 at 1440x900.

I don't have enough to get Studio Monitors and it will be some time before I do. I do need a new set of headphones sometime soon, though.
