In the simplist terms, all that we know is what we can sense at a time. No one senses the same things at the same time either, each person has either large or small differences in their psyche, or both, but nonetheless are different, therefore creating a different map for perception.
Beyond what can be sensed in real-time is an assumption. It may have valid premises, at least valid in the sense that you are assuming through what you remember, though a memory isn't exactly accurate, in itself it is just a thought in your head, the same thing as a thought you made up. We only live in the present moment, we do not live in the past or the future.
These assumptions are just thoughts. Of what may be, for example a sound heard...it could've came from something that exists, or it could have been just a mental resonating sound that you thought was real. How does one know? You don't..."Common Sense" would give you the answer, but common sense in itself is more of an attachment to the physical world, non-abstract thought.
To summarize, thoughts make up reality. Perception allows you to create thoughts. There is a 'real' world, but it is different for every individual, not to mention it cannot be considered as a whole truthfully...it must be considered one perception at a time, and once you move on to another, how can you be sure the previous will be the same, since you have changed with that movement of time and perceptions?
When I finish On God and Man, I might post it. I just want to put a basic outline down...I think I would like to write about these ideas in a larger amount...there is so much that goes through my head when i ponder them.
