Aug. 21st, 2015 06:51 pmYou know I've been getting exposed more to people from eastern europe/indonesia through a little facebook game I occasionally play around with. Their communities in game are far more caring/helpful and considerate, even if their English isn't the greatest - you can tell they are just generally nicer people than most of the Americans I come across in game (or out of it?.) Don't know if that's indicative of an overarching problem in our western society, or what. Obviously online communities may not be representative of real ones, because Americans have been exposed to gaming and the internet longer...but it does make me wonder.
I know when I was in Alaska, I met a Russian who grew up in Moscow and was visiting. He said he liked Russia more than here. Chatting with him is one of the reasons I found it so difficult to feel the seemingly natural dislike of Russia, let alone believe the propaganda...
