Listening to really high-profile dance music, I'm simply appalled, really. It's annoying, boring and repetitive. Yet it sells. Well gee.
Sometimes I really wonder if these DJs sit down and think to themselves, "Hey! I think I'll just get some basic equipment and do the same exact thing - the same bass line, the same beats, the same progressions, the same production as every other dance DJ out there. This will work!"
And then they do it. And then they get popular. But you know what? They don't have a fucking soul.
There was a really famous experimental electronic artist who said, "It'd be great if we could all go out there and do something original, wouldn't it? Can't we all do that?"
Probably the best words I've ever heard with regards to electronic music.
