My take on Marijuana and Legalization

sathorI think it's inevitable that marijuana will be legalized within the next decade, taxed and sold. Actually, it is much more likely that it will be legalized completely in a few states within a couple years time (and I'll probably move to one of those.)
I've used marijuana for a long, long time. I can sit down and tell you the facts about it pretty easily. Yeah, actually, it is addictive in a sense.
People can go disagreeing with me if they like. It is, at least for some of us. I do not believe it is the chemical itself that is addictive. There's no such thing as physical withdrawal symptoms, so it is not dangerous in that respect like alcohol and opiates are. There are mental and emotional withdrawal symptoms.
When you stop smoking marijuana after smoking it over a period of time, you have to be prepared to deal with a depression (ranging from slight to severe) and a craving to /fix that/ depression by taking more of the drug. I think that's a part of all drugs that cause true euphoria - I can't say the same for lysergic acid diethylamide or psilocybin...they can cause euphoria but it is not in the same sense at all.
But the depression is contrasted by a marked increase in lucidity and perception.
What the shamans of old considered to be "planes" or "worlds" are really just states of perception. Altering that state puts you in a different world. Being high on marijuana means you are seeing the world differently. The sober world is it's own plane as well. So is a world as perceived through a mind in ritual trance or meditative trance. They all alter brain waves and mental chemistry. Drugs do it artificially.
But other than that the only other negatives are a temporary loss in short term memory (which dissipates the longer you have gone without the drug) and slight motor skill impairment while actually high. There's plenty of studies out there - MOSTLY from European medical journals - that will give you the straight facts. I don't know HOW the US Government can continually LIE through their TEETH about the truth, saying it has NO MEDICAL BENEFIT when even HARVARD professor emeriti SAY THAT IT DOES. And in fact, have written plenty of books about it.
That is, in all honesty, the problem. Media is supposed to be UNBIASED and TELLING THE TRUTH. Why and how can they run ads that blatantly lie and distort ALL ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE of the drug, and numerous other drugs? How can the Drug Czar do this as well? And no one cries foul (what, except for the stupid stoners?) Well hey, I'll give you the answer. It's CAPITALISM. THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. If you have enough money, you can run any fucking ad you want, and if you don't believe me, get rich and give it a spin! If I was rich, /i'd be running ads for the benefit of all mankind/. Not peddling a fucking wonder drug, wonder supplement, wonder weight loss item, food, clothes or any fucking other ridiculous material item. I'd be providing ads that /enlighten the world/. I'd be paying for public broadcasting, which is half the reason I am as intelligent as I am (And guess what PA just cut in half - public television's budget)
It's mind boggling. And it works right into a theory of mine that governments have been hiding the truth in plain sight for a long, long time. The television is a main source of knowledge for the vast majority of the population. STOP WATCHING TV. Read books, get online, find out about academic journals that interest you, find the real information. Obviously someone is censoring the truth with regards to TV. And it's not just that - think on this for a moment. Go into a large city library...how many of those books have hardly ever been touched? How much information is out there that /we don't even know about?/. You can't be enlightened by an author you've never been told about. THAT'S one major source of problems. You have academic canons that determine what is proper curriculum and the proper thinkers within that discipline that are to be taught. None of my psych classes spent more than a few lines of text on Carl Jung - they spend entire chapters on Freud though. THAT'S FUCKED UP. Go ahead and mention the collective unconscious in one sentence, like THAT is teaching anyone anything. And from what I've been reading, Jung vehemently disagreed with Freud in many respects, and I think Freud just had a better foothold in the scientific world, so Jung was pushed out.
Noam Chomsky is another good example. An intellectual juggernaut, but I /never heard of him/ until I saw a Bill Hicks performance (and I had /never heard of him/ until someone at random mentioned him and I looked him up). These people, the true intellectuals, are CENSORED. If their wisdom were spread appropriately, we wouldn't be where we are today in this country or in the world. We'd be on our way to colonizing space as one race united the world over, living in peace and harmony. And yes, I do believe it is a possibility that in my lifetime I will see that all-encompassing peace.
You have PIRATES and you have EMPERORS and they are both equally evil, but the emperors have vast navies while the pirates have single ships. I'm taking from Chomsky on that one (who took from Aquinas) but it is a fact of reality. The emperors are going to point their fingers at the pirates (bush pointing fingers at afghanistan and iraq) while they commit atrocities a hundred times more vicious and sadistic with the same breath. 2,000 some dead from 9/11. Hundreds of thousands of innocents killed in our preemptive invasion. Perfect example. Lets just forget it ever happend.
Go back to bed america, your government has solved the problem. Go back to bed america, sleep well, while we fuel our war machine with 20%+ of your hard earned money and imprison the free will of people, steal your sovereignty and laugh while we put our children through ivy league schools to continue the perpetual cycle.
I have a feeling that when I do go back to college, big things are going to happen for me. I'm going to make enemies in the faculty, and friends. But I am going to be a vocal, angry motherfucker. I am not going to stand by and watch people continue to get brainwashed. I'm going to do what Chomsky says any real intellectual should... seek the truth, the real truth, find the data to back it up, and then NO ONE CAN DISAGREE WITH YOU.
Somebody has to tear down this institution of lies.
